Pricing Basics
We generally have very competitive pricing, far below our high quality and technique standards. We don’t get those 5 star reviews by charging the most or doing quick and dirty work. That being said, here is what customers need to know about pricing… no two sets of windows are identical, even if the floor plans are identical. This is because we charge not based solely on window and screen count (we always wash screens as well as windows) but time since last cleaning, type of glass, hard water spots, and combination job pricing, all play factors. What we need is to SEE the windows up close and personal to provide a proper quote.
Combination Jobs:
The most common is doing exterior and interior window surfaces, there is a small price break here. However there is one surface when doing in and out together that neither inside or outside only does not take into account, and that is the sliding window track beneath the window that slides open. Other services like cleaning the exterior (those cobwebs under eaves, the collected dirt that stucco gets all year, etc etc) of the structure, doing rain gutter cleaning (and we do a high quality job on this, not just use a blower and call it good, we actually drain out the packed in dust, way more time consuming than what your gardener does, and lasts a good year typically) scrubbing down solar panels (scrubbing, not hosing off, I get the bird droppings out and the crud your hose isn’t strong enough to loosen), power washing walkways or patios, soft washing brick and tile, removing hard water spots or scaling (this is a separate charge, it uses a lot of hardware and chemicals and very time consuming) or dealing with mold/mildew areas. the more jobs we do at once the bigger the discount. For example, we get a job for solar panels valued at $150 and an external window order valued at $175 (we always round down to the nearest 25 for windows) with $100 worth of hard water scaling. Normal bill would be $425 if separate, but taken together becomes $375, knocking off $50. If they also want the inside windows done which lets say comes to $100, we will add that to the total at $75, not $100 so now we have $450 for solar panels, hard water spots/scaling abatement and window cleaning both in and out, a total value of $525 (and trust us you can find places that will charge a lot more than $525 for what I just listed)
Generosity and Building a Stronger Community
Oildale Window Cleaning loves helping our community. One thing we do for all customers is do something not on the sales order, something that makes an impact and leaves the customer with a warm positive feeling. We do this in the hopes we become that customer’s resource for years to come. We also have a pet project, a class of people we show extra care for and give generously. These are single women over 65, when we find one we want to be extra good to them, because they typically have somewhat fixed incomes and may not be as capable of housework as they were 10 years ago. When we encounter this combination we discount almost down to cost, and a huge discount compared to our other customers. We all know the math, women live longer and make less income compared to men typically, but what is not talked about is how much of our community is driven by these women, it is a staggering proportion to say the least. So we give generously to this segment and simply ask them to spread the word about us doing terrific work, because that has real value and makes those deep discounts well worth it. In all honesty we gave generously to one such lady in Stockdale, and she wrote for us a testimonial which she gave leave for us to publish an ad for the entire Stockdale community. This ad cost us $500 and we gave her about $200 in discounts, so call it $700 investment, the reply to this ad: valued at $6K – $8K in orders. We love reviews and testimonials!!! We don’t do a true scratch my back and we’ll scratch yours though we do ask for reviews and testimonials from this group because they carry such weight in the marketplace.
Brick Cleaning
Brick cleaning is a tough area and it is due to the grout used. technically you want what is referred to as a “soft wash” which has water pressure between home typical pressure and full blown pressure or power washing. It is a dicey area, not easy and possible to do, however there are some caveats. The first is the condition of your grout and it’s age, I may start a job and not be able to do it because of this. I will talk to customers about all of this prior to beginning work.
Hours of Operation
As a home based microbusiness, our hours of operation are fairly wide open. Throughout the year if the sun is up we are available to do jobs. The summer however is a slightly different case. Any time the outside temperature is over 103 degrees we are able to answer questions and provide quotes, but will not be doing manual labor. This is why during the summer our hours flex toward the early morning, trying to begin manual labor at 6AM. If the customer is open to this, we ask all our customers to please be understanding during high temperature days that typically cover all of July and August and some or most of June and September.
Mold and Mildew
Removing mold and mildew comes with certain risks. Typically it is on a walkway that is all concrete or cement, where it can easily be pressure washed away, we have a very effective pressure washer with a surface cleaner attachment which provides an even cleaning over a large surface. If however, it is on brick or stucco then you have a different animal, one where a lighter hand is required and heavy chemicals do most of the work. you have to have strong and healthy stucco or grout for the bricks. I may start a job and have to inform the customer their stucco or grout is less than capable for the mold or mildew removal process. If successful, we can provide a sealant for brick which should keep mold and mildew away for 2-4 years. I do not suggest doing the same for stucco, it can be done, it’s just that it makes a line across the area protected which looks odd after a year.
Stucco and mold: a special note here, we have all seen those structures with the discolored stucco along the bottom 2 feet, and for this I blame the builder. You never want an area of dirt to make contact with stucco, ever; that is how the discoloration happens. It is the leaching of minerals and salts from the dirt which cause the discoloration, and here in Bakersfield that is mostly calcium. What I tell customers to do is put down rocks or pave around the house with cement or concrete. What you want is an area that has no dirt within 3 feet of stucco, because rain will make it splash up. Also beware of shrubs next to the house, if not watered 2 x’s week or more they will do the same thing, thanks to all that wonderful Bakersfield dust that is always falling, it has minerals in it too.
Parties, Retirements, and Receptions–Oh My!!!
We are familiar with all these types of events and understand the time sensitivity for these types of situations. We have a simple goal: make the customer so happy we turn into a staple service provider where every 6 months we call and schedule a new round of window cleaning with possible other services like cleaning out gutters, power washing walkways and other high traffic areas, cleaning the home exterior, inside windows, screen replacement, solar panel scrubbing etc etc. So please call us and schedule an order for your event, we are better than just ok at it.
We have provided outdoor cleaning with a purpose many times, it is something we use to get those 5 star ratings you may read about in online sites like Yelp, Home Advisor etc etc The most common of these events are customers selling their homes. Let me be clear on this topic: OILDALE WINDOW CLEANING WILL GET YOU A FASTER HOME SALE AND MORE MONEY. It’s a no brainer, spend a few hundred dollars to save days and make thousands in return.in the last 2 weeks alone we have done 3 such orders, one was remarkable, a simple tract home, not a gated community or high named neighborhood, it had 1800sf and 4 bedrooms. We transformed the exterior with a washing of the outside and doing the windows, it was less than $400 for the order and it sold in 3 days, for 399k.
